NEW! Rare deciduous ornamental tree from Tibet, China, Korea and Japan, grows up to 15 m in height, forms a dense crown. Has decorative leaves, similar to the leaves of Sweet Chestnut. Forms decorative acorns with fringed "caps". These acorns are edible after roasting and grinding, and are widely used in Asia as a substitute of the decaffeinated coffee. The bark is also decorative (dark grey and deeply cracked). Likes fertile and moist soils. Grows and fruits best in full sun on sheltered places. Fully hardy.
