(Hylocereus undatus)
Also called Red Dragon Fruit, is a tropical epiphyte cactus (growing on the bark of trees). Has dark green elongated shoots, hanging down (up to 1.5 ms in length). In the spring and early summer forms large (up to 30 cm in diameter), funnel-shaped fragrant flowers, then wonderful edible fruits, vaguely resembling red-orange pear, sweet and juicy. In tropical countries these fruits are often eaten raw as a dessert fruit, or used in the preparation of cocktails and beverages.
Pitaya is undemanding and resistant to pests and diseases. Should have warmth and sun (but not direct sunlight), temperature should not drop below + 15 C.
