Pagoda Tree.
(Sophora japonica syn. Styphnolobium japonicum)
Ornamental tree native to northern Japan and the Kuril Islands, grows up to 20 ms in height. Has seasonal, feathery, dark green leaves (up to 25 cm in length), in autumn they turn yellow. In late summer until October this tree produces abundant white, tinted blue flowers. Then very ornamental fruit-pods appear, resembling dropping strings of pearls. They remain on the tree until spring.
This tree likes sunny places and any average type of soil. Frost-hardy, except the coldest climates. Rapid growth.
