(Phellodendron amurense)
Ornamental tree native to the Far East. Grows up to 14 ms in height. Has large dark green, feathery leaves up to 25 cm in length, in autumn they turn yellow. Its cork bark is very decorative, deeply fissured, dark gray. Creamy inflorescences in summer, then clusters of black, shiny berries. Its bark is commonly used in Chinese herbalism, is antibacterial, antirheumatic, aphrodisiac, cholagogue, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, and tonic (should be used with care).
This tree likes sunny places and any type of soil, even arid and dry. Frost-hardy. Rapid growth.
